To me, the first and foremost criterion for a beautiful food photograph is that it must be visually appetizing. Before engaging our other senses to touch, smell, or taste, we rely on our sight and to some extent, our intuition to evaluate a dish’s presentation, colors, and textures. Whether I’m shooting for a restaurant, a cookbook, a magazine, or an advertising campaign for packaging and billboards, I always prioritize making the food look delicious and mouthwatering.
To achieve this, beyond crafting beautiful lighting, I continuously pursue and explore more about gastronomy. Stories about ingredients, culture, and people - including both chefs and the farmers who cultivate the ingredients - have been a great source of inspiration for me. In a way, they’ve kept me deeply connected to food photography.
Alongside sharing images from projects that Lancengx Studio has been fortunate to work on, I’ll also do my best to share insights, experiences, and thoughts on different aspects of the F&B industry. Hopefully, it will spark interest and appetite for you!
